Job description
NYLAG’s Consumer Protection Unit has an opening for a Staff Attorney for the Foreclosure Prevention Project. The Foreclosure Prevention Project works with homeowners to avoid losing their homes. This can be done through litigation, real estate transactions, grant programs and other means. The project also brings affirmative litigation and does informal non-litigation advocacy against real estate scammers.
The attorney will represent clients in the five boroughs of NYC as well as Nassau and Suffolk. The attorney will also staff a weekly clinic at the Nassau Supreme court and a bi-weekly clinic at the Bronx Supreme Court.
Duties and Responsibilities
Represent clients in all facets of foreclosure litigation
Attend various legal clinics in the five boroughs and Long Island
Apply for and monitor grant applications for clients
Handle real estate transactions from contract through closing
Represent clients in Chapter 7 bankruptcies
Represents clients in Surrogate Court matters
Qualifications
Admission to the New York State Bar
Desire to work directly with clients
Ability to handle a diverse caseload
Able to work independently and as part of a team

Salary Range:
NYLAG is a unionized workplace, and salaries are set pursuant to a collective bargaining agreement. The current salary range for this position is between $ $87,210 - $93,175.
